Windowpane Top Mid - 3/4 Sleeve - Spinifex
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Geraldine Napangardi Riley is a well known Australian Aboriginal artist born in Mount Doreen Station in the 1970's. Her dreamings include Women's ceremony and Water Dreaming. Geraldine also depicts many different bush foods from where she grew up and resides.
THE DESIGN: Spinifex is a species of grass that is usually found in wet coastal regions of Australia. The grass may be seen growing on top of the sand dunes at the beach where it plays an integral part in keeping the sand in place and preventing it from blowing away. Spinifex is often planted on the sand dunes to help prevent the beaches from erosion. The grass is native to Australia and grows to about 30cm (1 ft) tall. The leaves of the spinifex are sharp and are likely to cut you if you grab them forcefully, and the roots are very strong and grow deeply into the earth. Spinifex can also be found growing in New Zealand and New Caledonia.
Each artwork is fully licensed and is paid for fairly to each individual artist by M & S Textiles.
